Rebolledo turns Rated R into a record label

Mexican DJ, producer and promoter Rebolledo has turned his RATED R party series into a record label, launching the imprint with a new release from Rub N Tug. What began as a club series has already travelled beyond Mexico, with RATED R showcases bringing Rebolledo together with artists from the international underground scene.

The label’s debut release is “Momentum”, a new take on the Rub N Tug classic that had previously been available only as a highly limited 7-inch pressing. The new release pairs the duo’s rework with a contribution from Mexican producer Paulor, adding a second interpretation to the track’s return. The release is available digitally and on 12-inch vinyl.

RATED R’s transition from party brand to label expands a platform closely connected to Rebolledo’s musical universe. The Mexican artist has been active in electronic music since the 2000s, with releases on labels including Kompakt, Cómeme and Hippie Dance, while his work with Superpitcher as Pachanga Boys remains another defining part of his catalogue.

The RATED R club series is also continuing alongside the label launch. On September 19, Rebolledo will bring RATED R to Fünk in Mexico City, joined by Cabizbajo and Baby Mango.

With its first release now available, RATED R enters a new phase, moving from the dancefloor to the record shelves while keeping Rebolledo’s distinctive connection between music, parties and Mexico at its centre.
